You are the Company You Keep!

Funny thing... I was out with one of my MENTORS last week and he's 'old' (just kidding, he knows he's 'youthful!'... at heart ;-) Anyway, as they say, with age comes WISDOM and he was sharing some of his thoughts about the INFLUENCES we have in our lives and how CRITICAL they are to our SUCCESS at all stages of our life. When you think back about your 'Little Life' and how it sculpted you into the person you grew up to become, that SET THE STAGE for a lot of what you're likely doing in your adult life- you see, our PARADIGM is a set of thoughts, habits and behaviours that produce the RESULTS we see all around us in our lives.

Take a moment to reflect on how your Parents thought about MONEY and the lessons they passed down to you, for example, you may have heard things like 'Money is the root of all evil, money doesn't grow on trees, rich people are greedy, that's too expensive, do you think WE'RE MADE OF MONEY?' and so on. Likely, as you grew up, the subject of money was something that made you UNCOMFORTABLE because your views on it were NEGATIVELY INFLUENCED. I'm NOT saying this to lay blame, after all, no doubt your Parents were influenced in the same way. People OPERATE AT THE LEVEL OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE. Take stock of your life and ask yourself if you see PATTERNS showing up all around you.

Our SPHERE OF INFLUENCE is typically defined as the FIVE PEOPLE that you spend the majority of your VALUABLE TIME with. They have a DIRECT INFLUENCE on how you FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF, what you TALK ABOUT, the ACTIONS and DECISIONS that you take and the overall QUALITY OF YOUR LIFE. They make up the fabric of your LIFE EXPERIENCE. Think about this... if your friends are HEALTHY odds are YOU ARE HEALTHY. If they are CONSTANTLY NEGATIVE- YOU are probably negative. What we FOCUS ON EXPANDS. Conversely, if you get around POSITIVE people, people who have a MISSION and GOALS, want to GROW- you too will build upon their ENERGY, LEARN and be INSPIRED BY THEM.

If you look around you, look at your sphere- DO YOU SEE PATTERNS? Do they SUPPORT YOU? ENCOURAGE YOU? CELEBRATE WITH YOU? or do they cause FEAR, UNCERTAINTY and DOUBT in all that you do? Question you and why you want to CHANGE and just BRING YOUR ENERGY DOWN? If 'YES'... it's time my friend to take a NEW DIRECTION and set course for EVERYTHING THAT IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU!
